গত বছর একদিন প্রথম আলোর জ্যেষ্ঠ সাংবাদিকের সঙ্গে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবে নাশতা করছিলাম। হঠাৎ খবর পেলাম অমিতাভ বচ্চন মারা গেছেন। স্বাভাবিক মৃত্যু নয়, সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। উপমহাদেশের চলচ্চিত্রজগতের যে তিন-চারজনকে আমি শ্রদ্ধা করি, অমিতাভ বচ্চন তাঁদের একজন। আমার টেলিভিশন দেখার বিশেষ অবকাশ হয় না, কিন্তু কাজকর্ম ফেলে আমি অমিতাভ বচ্চনের ‘কৌন বনেগা ক্রোড়পতি’ পুরোটাই উপভোগ করেছি। তা ছাড়া, তাঁর ব্যক্তিত্বের কারণে তাঁর প্রতি আমার শ্রদ্ধা। এখনো তিনি সক্রিয়, তাই তাঁর মৃত্যুসংবাদে মর্মাহত হই। খাবারের টেবিল থেকে টিভিরুমে যাই খাওয়া শেষ না করেই। আমাদের চ্যানেলগুলোর স্ক্রলে কিছু দেখা গেল না। ভারতীয় চ্যানেল ঘুরিয়ে দেখি সেখানেও গানবাজনা হচ্ছে, অমিতাভ বচ্চনের কোনো খবর নেই। আমার বিচলিত ভাব দেখে সাংবাদিকদের কেউ কেউ তাঁদের অফিসে ফোন করে জানলেন এ রকম কোনো খবর পাওয়া যায়নি। আমার ছেলেকে বললাম, কারও কম্পিউটার থেকে ওই সংবাদের একটা প্রিন্ট বের করে আনতে। রাতে আমি প্রিন্টের কাগজটি পড়ে দেখি, তিনি যে শুধু মারা গেছেন তা-ই নয়, তাঁর দেহ এতটাই বিকৃত হয়েছে যে তা চেনার উপায় নেই। আরও কী সব কথা। দুই দি...
